Wedding at Hermitage Hotel 8/6/16

On August 6, 2016 Silver Strings was in attendance at the nuptials of Mimi and Colin at the Hermitage Hotel.  Last year I was able to play Mimi’s sister’s wedding at their parents’ farm.  Unfortunately for me I was out of town for Mimi’s wedding but my able colleagues took care of business very nicely.

The ceremony took place on the veranda with the quartet playing hymns and songs such as “Be Thou My Vision” and Train’s “Marry Me” while the guests arrived.  The mothers and grandmothers were seated to the sweet lullaby, “Baby Mine”.  There was just the Matron of Honor for an attendant who arrived to “We Bought a Zoo” after which Mimi met her sweetheart at the altar to the sumptuous “Moon River”.

After the ceremony the newlyweds made their way back down the aisle to the Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love”, leading the way to the cocktail hour in the lobby.  Guests were serenaded with songs like “It Had to Be You”, “White Dress” and “Come Fly With Me” played by the quartet.

Congratulations to Mimi and Colin and their families.  Many wishes for a long and happy life together!

Birthday Party! 6/5/16

On June 5, 2016 we were able to take a break from the wedding whirlwind to entertain for a birthday party at the Hermitage Hotel in downtown Nashville.  I won’t mention any names, let alone ages, but what was so neat for us musicians was to see the abundant love of a doting husband, friends and family for the birthday girl.

We played an eclectic mix of classical, pop, contemporary gospel and whatever people requested.  These days the one song that really gets a reaction was the theme to “Game of Thrones” and this party was no exception.  Someday I’ll have to check out the series to see what the fuss is all about.

Congratulations to the birthday girl and many happy returns!
