9/7/19 Wedding at Franklin Cumberland Presbyterian Church

On 9/7/19 Elizabeth wed her sweetheart, Patrick, in a lovely ceremony in the historic Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Franklin.  Silver Strings was a duo this time consisting of Linda Davis on viola and Lindsey Smith-Trostle on cello.  As per Elizabeth’s request we played classical selections for the prelude and then traditional classics for the processionals such as a Handel “Passacaile” for the mothers, “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” for the bridesmaids and the “Canon in D” for the bridal entrance.

I always try to attend rehearsals if at all possible and was really glad this time that I did.  Normally when the minister presents Mr. and Mrs. …….we launch into the recessional as everyone applauds.  This time the minister made the announcement and the guests broke into applause which went on which went on for what felt like a long time.  I’m sure everyone was wondering when the musicians were going to start the recessional and kept applauding thinking we needed to be jarred out of our stupor.  Finally the minister quieted everybody and proceeded to have a blessing that included the parents, a prayer and then a final blessing before looking at us for the start of the recessional.  Had I not been at the rehearsal I’m sure we would have crashed in at the wrong time.  The music BTW was “You Make My Dreams Come True”.

All’s well that ends well.  Elizabeth and Patrick are married and we wish them all the best in their new life together!
