The Bridge Ministry Fundraiser 9/21/17

For a change Silver Strings got to do something really neat, yet humbling.  We played background music for a fundraising dinner for The Bridge Ministry in the David Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena.  The Bridge Ministry was established by gospel singer, Candy Christmas, a few years ago to feed the homeless every Tuesday evening under the Jefferson Street Bridge.  Through her vision and guidance the ministry feeds sometimes hundreds of people every week as well as providing clothes and food boxes to take with them.

After we finished our part, the program continued with a performance by Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum along with her father and Ricky Skaggs of songs she had written.  Following her performance Franklin Graham, the Reverend Billy Graham’s son, took the stage to deliver thanks and encouragement to all the volunteers who participate every week in the feeding and care of so many.

Following Rev. Graham, Jasmine, Candy’s daughter and singer in her own right, took the stage to once again prove that apples don’t fall too far from the tree.

It was such an honor to be a part of this celebration of the generosity and love of so many people for those less fortunate than they.
