Wedding at Scarritt 7/2/16

On Saturday July 2, 2016 Brittany and Felix were wed at the wonderful Wightman Chapel at Scarritt.  We were a quartet this time that included flutist, Celine Thackston.  Since we were asked to play classical music it was easy to pick out some great music for prelude that really set off the flute.  Celine played so beautifully the lovely “Pavane” by Faure.    Other pieces we played included the Delibes “Flower Duet”, Handel’s “Passacaile” and Bach’s “Sheep May Safely Graze” all of which sounded wonderful with the flute.

For the processionals Brittany chose “Canon in D” for the whole wedding party including the mothers with the flower girls and ring bearer nearly stealing the show.  The Brittany entered to “Trumpet Voluntary”.  During the service the guests were asked to sing the hymn “Joyful, Joyful” by Beethoven which we accompanied.

I want to compliment Lauren Hartman and Krista Cook (my apologies, Krista, I can’t remember your married name) of Southern Soiree on their excellent organization and running of this wedding.  It makes my job so much easier when I know the coordinators won’t forget the musicians.  (It happens.)

And now it’s time to congratulate Brittany, Felix and their extended families and wish them a beautiful and long relationship.
