Wedding at Church of the Assumption 11/1/14

I got a little ahead of myself with my last post.  We actually started November 1 earlier that day with a wedding at the beautiful, historic Church of the Assumption.  Iliana married her sweetheart, Josh, in a Catholic ceremony complete with Mass and Communion.  We were a quartet that afternoon and got to play some gorgeous music that included the Leonard Cohen song “Hallelujah” adapted from the Time for Three version and then Gary playing the first movement from the Bach Unaccompanied Sonata #1 for the prelude.  Scot Tyler sang several songs during prelude and the ceremony including “Ave Maria”, “The Lord’s Prayer” and “The Prayer”.  It was a thrill to hear these songs sung in a sanctuary with such wonderful acoustics.

Iliana was a stunning beauty as she made her way down the aisle to the altar to “A Thousand Years”.  An old friend of her family, Father Sam Messina, had traveled from Mississippi to perform the rite.  After exchanging vows Iliana and Josh laid roses in front of the statue of Mary as Scot sang “Ave Maria”.  Then during Communion the quartet played the lovely “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace” as well as “Panis Angelicus”.

Krisie Tiffner of A Magical Affair handled this wedding with all its myriad details and curve balls with total aplomb.

Once again congratulations are due all around to the bride and groom and their families.  Many wishes for a long and happy marriage.Church of the Assumption IMG_0328
